Classroom Policies
Schedule: Preschool starts in September, the Wednesday after Labor Day (September 3rd) and ends the second full week in May (May 15th). Note: our class follows the schedule of the West Ada District elementary schools. When the children in West Ada do not have class, neither do we. This includes Inservice and snow days. A final preschool calendar will be available at the meet-n-greet (the day after Labor Day, September 2nd).
Fees: There is an initial non-refundable registration fee of $75. This holds your child’s spot and helps with curriculum and classroom supply costs. For an additional $50, you may request that Miss Angela provide the items on the school supply list for your child.
Tuition: Tuition is due on the first day of preschool each month. Tuition is $115 or $155 each month, regardless of the West Ada school schedule. There is a late fee of $10 after the first day of the second week of class for the month. Venmo or cash are accepted. Repeated late payments may be grounds for termination, and parents who are more than 2 weeks late on payment may be denied admission until the account is made current.
Late Fees: Please be respectful of my time. If you are late, I will give you one reminder of the late fee policy. After that, there will be a $10 late fee for all late pick-ups moving forward. This fee must be paid in cash or Venmo before the child’s next regularly scheduled class. I do understand that emergencies occur; please send a text as soon as you can to let me know the situation; phone calls are fine, but texts are preferred as I will be helping other children with the pick-up procedure.
Teacher Absence: In the rare event that I am unable to teach preschool, class will be cancelled. If class is cancelled due to teacher illness/absence for more than 1 day total, tuition will be adjusted $10/day missed after the initial first day.
Wellness Policy: Follow the Golden Rule. If your child has any symptoms you would not want them to be around, please keep them at home. Preschool children can spread germs very quickly. Examples: please do NOT bring your child to school when they have experienced any of the following symptoms in the last 24 hours: fever, diarrhea, vomiting, upset stomach, unexplained loss of appetite, fatigue, irritability, or headache. Tuition is not adjusted for an individual child’s illness or missed days. I will provide students with activities that they missed and will work with parents to provide learning activities if it is a prolonged absence.
Discipline Policy: I want my students to feel like they can be children. We will have classroom rules to help set boundaries. For safety reasons, there will be NO running permitted in the house as well as NO standing or climbing on chairs, tables, couches, or the stair banister. If necessary, I will work with parents 1-1 to communicate any concerns and work on a resolution together.
Potty Training Policy: Please work hard to ensure your child is potty trained prior to the first day of school. If your child is NOT potty trained, your child may come in a pull-up. If there is an accident during school hours, I will help them as long as they have NOT pooped in their pull-up. Otherwise, I will call the parent to come take care of it. Please make sure to pack a pull-up, or change of underwear for potty-trained children, in case of an accident.
Personal Belongings: Children may NOT bring toys from home.
Children’s Work: Projects, papers, etc. will come home on the last day of class for the week - Thursday or Friday. On occasion, work that takes up more than average space will be sent home on the day it is completed.
School Supplies: All school supplies will remain at school (see attached list at the end of the packet). I will also keep a Ziploc bag with your child’s name on it filled with extra supplies and replace supplies in their pencil box as needed; leftover supplies will go home at the end of the year. If you do not wish to purchase supplies, I will pick up supplies for your child for a $50 fee.
Drop-off and Pick-up: Please do not block the neighbors’ driveways when dropping off your child. The front door will be unlocked for your child to enter the house. It will remain unlocked during music time (about 15 minutes). I will lock the door as we transition to circle time. We will walk out together as a class for pick up. Please form a line in front of our home facing west along Vestige Dr that turns into Hollymount. Miss Angela will wait with the children at the end of our driveway; children will get in their cars as the line moves forward.
Snack: Please provide a healthy snack and a water bottle every day. Miss Angela will communicate via e-mail or text when lessons involve a snack learning activity.
Birthdays: You are welcome to share a special treat in honor of your child’s birthday. Miss Angela will coordinate which day we will celebrate your child’s birthday at least 2 weeks prior. If your child’s birthday is in the summer, we will celebrate near the half-birthday date.
Holiday Parties: We will celebrate Halloween, Christmas, Valentines, and End of Year/Graduation.
Open House: Prior to the first day of school, I will host an open house for you and your preschooler. This will give them a chance to meet me, check out their new school, drop off school supplies, and answer any questions.
